Why are you guys complaining about 100Mbps on the F@ST 5355's ethernet ports? FTTN can only achieve a maximum of 100Mbps throughput, and the device only has 2 LAN ports. So you're going to have to use a switch to connect more than two computers/devices over ethernet anyway. If the switch you use is 1000Mbps (Gbe) and the computers you're transferring data between on your LAN are Gbe as well, your computers will link at 1Gbps and transfer at around that rate.
Internal network transfers don't touch the modem/router because the switch and computers are using, and because well. That's what a switch does. The only time your complaint about the 100Mbps ports on the router will come into play is when you are accessing data through the router (such as the internet or USB connected storage). Thanks Reece, you have saved me the unnecessary expenditure on a Gateway max router.I am not even sure why Telstra would bother seling these more expensive devices if they are not necessary. Looking at he Sagemcom web sit, the 5355 does not appear, just the 5350 and 5360 which both have four gigabit ethernet ports, so Telstra has yet again gone for the lowest common denominator. In my case I will either use my current Asus AC1750 router as a switch or purchase a cheap stand alone gigabit switch.
NCF members can disregard this and proceed to configure the modem to connect to NCF's internet service. Note: When connecting the Sagemcom 2864 for the first time and occasionally on subsequent connections, the LED near the '@' symbol will flash red indicating that a firmware update is in progress.
I am also puzzled as to why Telstra will be providing, from next month onwards, DOCSIS 3.1, gigabit capable HFC modems. It sounds like Telstrra does not have any plans in the near to medium term future to utlize this capacity. To paraphrase the expression about the weather in Queensland, when it comes to IT, in Australia it's mediocre today and second rate tomorrow. Reece, in the same spirit, it is time to move into the 21st century. Even the above router woulld be capable of handling a more contemporay game than DOOM or even DOOM 2. Reece, You may be technically correct but that is not why I raised this topic. Every bit of info I could find about this gateway up until now specified the LAN ports to be GigEth.

This includes the previous post I linked to above and the Telstra.com website. Strangely, now I cannot find any mention about this gateway on Telstra.com and the basic gateway displayed now is completely different and specifies a 4 port LAN GigEth - I intended to set this up with a media server on one port and the rest of my home networked on the other. I'll have to see how it goes I guess. If you remember seeing it spec'd out on the Telstra site somewhere (in formal terms) and remember roughly the date you saw it, you might have browser history for around then. You could use the internet time machine to paste the URL and possibliy view cached versions of the page before they modified it to remove the specs.
We're on the same page here - I'm not at all impressed with this modem, but it's the only one they would provide to me for free and the only one they will support voice services on for my FTTN connection. Honestly, buy a decent 8 or 16 port Gigabit Ethernet switch (possibly one with a few PoE ports) and connect nothing to the F@ST 5355 except your switch. It is useless for USB sharing or media serving too because it's only USB 2.0, and obviously only 10/100 LAN. I have a NBN HFC connection with foxtel abd a f@st 5355 router. The foxtel.works fine but the internet has no connection. Telstra have been as per usual horrible with the customer service and have not found a resolution to why we have no internet. So far, from the incoming coax from the street I have checked both ports on the splitter with the foxtel that works in both.
From there the black Arris CM8200 NBN box that converts the coax to a cat 5e cable has all 4 green lights on the front and 1 green light on the back where the UNI d 1 connection is. From there it goes into the WAN port on the router. And thats it. ANY help would be appreciated.
We have had no Internet for 6 weeks now.
Here is my tool to enable Telnet access and a line stats page for Sagemcom F@st 2864 modems. All sources are included. NOTE - Updated version posted here ».
Download here: » What's new in V1.01: - Telnet Enable option - New commands 'rgconfset' and 'rgconfdel' accessible by shell - Double-NAT compatible (make sure you forward port 69 UDP properly) - How does it work? Launch the executable file and allow firewall access to tftp.exe. Type in your modem login, password and serial number and click Install. Wait and then enjoy! Stats are now accessible at » and are refreshed every minute.
Can I uninstall it safely? Yes, in case something goes wrong you can click on the Remove button and everything will go back to factory state. Why do I have to type in my serial number?
That smells fishy. It is perfectly legit! Try to set a manual DNS server by the web interface, it will ask you to enter the serial number to confirm you really want to do this. What happens after a firmware update? You'll have to run this tool again an reinstall it. Telnet however should stay enabled if you previously activated it.
DISCLAIMER This tool is released for educational purpose only. I cannot be held responsible for any harm or damage it can cause. You must be the owner of the modem you wish to use this tool with. Hmm does this mean I can actually get my 10 mbit upload? Said by: Is there any way to replace the main page and link to stats off that?I asked the same question. Now that I look at the injection attack it has a copy of index.html in the pack.bin payload that it copies to /tmp/stats. Worse case it would be nice to have a stats menu entry added to the copy.

Then just ignore the original index file. I would have expected the original Bell logo to be replaced with meme.gif.
I assume OP didn't want to freak people out. EDIT: Whooops. Just noticed it on the right.
